The second week of December is a great time to visit most of Asia. Typically we have pleasant and sunny weather but we are still some time away from the rush of the Christmas tourist season.
Visa Requirements
Visas are not required for short-term visitors from most countries, including U.S.A., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and European Union countries. Visitors should still check Hong Kong Immigration Department webpage or with their local consulates for the latest information.Getting to the conference hotels and HKUST
From the airport
Taking taxi is the easiest way to reach HKUST campus and conference hotels from the airport, and the cost is approximately HK$300. Note that the taxi drivers only accept cash and only in HK dollars. It might be helpful to print the name of your hotel and university in Chinese as not all taxi drivers speak English.
You can also take airport express train to downtown (Central) at a cost of HK$120 per person. From Central you can take a metro to the conference hotels.Between the conference hotels and conference venue
Transportation between HKUST and the two conference hotels will be arranged for the symposium. If you miss the arranged shuttle bus, you can take a taxi at around HK$40 or the public bus 792M (direction Sai Kung).
